[Twisted-Python] Optional packages for Conch (on OS X)

Has anyone (Bob ippolito?) successfully built the optional packages for 
Conch on Mac OS X? I run into Makefile problems when trying to build gmpy, 
PyPAM and pyshadow.

The MacPython package manager < http://undefined.org/python/pimp/ > which is 
referred to by Twisted for OS X doesn't include the optional packages.

The non-optional package (pycrypto) builds and installs just fine on OS X 
10.3.4
