[Twisted-Python] Copyright issues in the sandbox?

Two quick legalityish questions:

1) Is it acceptable to commit sets.py (from Python 2.3) into the sandbox
2) I made a pure python (2.2.x+) implementation of itertools, but I 
stole 99% of the code from the "Equivalent to:" text in the 
documentation for the C module ( 
http://www.python.org/dev/doc/devel/lib/itertools-functions.html ), is 
that legal to put into the sandbox?
